If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it., August 3, 2011

I was initially fitted in the Omni 8′s, which I loved. The only complaint I had with the Omni 8′s were that they needed more toe room.

Enter, the Omni 9. IMO, the only thing that the Omni 9′s did that was a plus, was that they did improve the toe room. (this is the only reason my review gets 2 stars, rather than 1) Other than that, I don’t know what exactly else they did to the shoe to change it, but it totally f-ed up my hip. I struggled with this, in denial for months, until at one point, a week before a half marathon, I could barely walk. At the advice of my shoe guy, I broke out the old Omni 8′s that were still in my closet and all problems were solved. I ran the half marathon with zero pain and got a PR. Have since gotten ride of the Omni 9′s. Currently I’m wearing the Hurricaine 12′s.

Side note: I saw that Saucony just came out with a Hurricaine 13, but luckily I can still get the 12′s on Amazon. After my Omni experience, I don’t want to go with the new model until I simply cannot find the previous one any more.

Another side note: Don’t buy shoes off Amazon based solely on customer reviews. You need to be professionally fitted. Don’t buy this or any running shoe unless you’ve already been fitted in the model.

    Ahhhh….., January 6, 2011

I was fitted with the ProGrid Omni 8 by a local store last year. What a difference! Shin splints disappeared overnight. No more icing my lower body as a preventative after coming in the door after a workout. I liked them enough that I ordered a pair as my everyday shoes as well. Fast forward to this year… running shoes badly needed replaced. I again went to my local store to be fitted (this time with a Progrid Omni 9) and then came home to order my “everyday” pair online. But then I saw the Omni Walker which had good reviews and looked much nicer for an everyday shoe as far as I was concerned. And, hey, I wasn’t really running in them, just walking around, right? Same company, same “Omni” name, it ought to be good…. Within a couple weeks of wearing them, though, I developed heel pain. Not the normal I get when my plantar fasciitis is acting up — this was more like a stone bruise on the back of my heel. I got online and ordered the the Progrid Omni 9. Got them in the mail today and immediately laced them on. Ahhh… I’m not limping around the house anymore. Just that quickly, my feet feel GREAT!

Love, Love, LOVE the ProGrid Omni shoe! The support (I over-pronate) and the cushioning is perfect! Never had a shoe like this before. Even with all those I tried in the local store, this one was definitely the best for my particular foot. I haven’t had any problems with shin splints, or plantar fasciitis since I started wearing them in Dec 2009. A little more athletic-looking than I’d like just wearing around town, but for the comfort — well worth it!

I have flat feet and overpronate. These sneakers are awesome. Great stabily and lots of toe room. I don’t have any calf pain. I love Saucony!
